Day Tour at TROODOS MOUNTAINS, VENETIAN BRIDGE, and WATERFALL
A trip to the mountains awaits you — this is the cool and green heart of Cyprus. Magnificent panoramas, shaded forests and waterfalls will refresh you on a hot day. You'll discover how local wine is made and experience the quiet lives of mountain villagers, where time stands still.
You will walk through the narrow and shady streets of the charming village of Omodos, a UNESCO protected site. You can buy gifts for your friends and family. The following items are widely available: Lefkaritiko (famous embroidery), silverware, art glassware and more.
A visit to Platres village will definitely leave pleasant memories in your mind. Although each of the mountain villages in Cyprus has its own unique image, they all share some similarities and a common culture and philosophy. But Platres is a different world from any other village in Cyprus. Platres is truly considered the resting place of kings and poets. Back when the English conquered Cyprus they built many residences and holiday places for the nobility, scholars, literati and other high society groups.
Incidentally, the village of Platres is the oldest in Cyprus, as mentions of it in written sources date back to the 11-14th centuries.
You also have the unique opportunity to visit the winery of Ktima Gerolemo. The winery has been open since 1989 and is situated near the village of Omodos. The owner of the winery, Athenodoros Athenodorou, studied to be a pharmacist. His knowledge of chemistry helped him continue his father's business. He not only makes wines according to the original technology but also makes experiments with new varieties of grapes, untypical for Cyprus. And what a storyteller he is! You'll be captivated by what he has to say at your wine-tasting event.
At the heart of the Troodos Mountains, you will see the Millomeris Waterfall, the highest waterfall in Cyprus. This waterfall never dries up in the summertime.
Nearby, in a picturesque forest, is the Venetian bridge of Kelephos, built in the 16th century. A legacy of Louisiana rule in Cyprus.
And of course, you can see the amazing panorama of the island from the observation deck of Mount Olympus. It is the highest point of Cyprus (1952 meters high). Unfortunately, it is impossible to reach the top, as it is occupied by a British military base, which is off-limits to the public.
During this trip, you will have free time for lunch and rest.
