The most celebrated imperial country residence called Pushkin (or Tsarskoye Selo) started in early 18th century with a small estate that was constructed for Catherine I, the wife of Peter the Great.
For two centuries Tsarskoye Selo was a grand imperial summer residence, the construction of which was a matter of state importance and involved departments of the government.
The Catherine palace and park ensemble is a superb monument of world-ranking architecture and garden-and-park design dating from the 18th to early 20th centuries. The group of the brightest architects, sculptors and painters made the ideas of their crowned clients a reality here.
The compositional centre of the whole ensemble is Catherine Palace — a splendid example of the Russian Baroque. Visitors are enraptured by the sumptuous décor of the Great Hall and the Golden Enfilade of staterooms that includes the world-famous Amber Room now returned to life.
Today, as we enter the palace, we can sense the spirit of the times of Empresses Elizabeth and Catherine II and admire unique works of fine and applied art.
More than a hundred historical monuments are scattered across the Catherine and Alexander Parks that have a joint area of 300 hectares: there are grand palaces and intimate pavilions, bridges and marble monuments, and also exotic structures imitating Gothic, Turkish and Chinese architecture that invest little corners of the parks with a romantic atmosphere.
So join the tour and down in exeptional lavishness of the royal interiors and fall in love walking along picturesque park.

Reviews of other tours by Lily
We were with Lilia for 2 days and had a fabulous time. We visited Peterhof one day and Tsarsko Selo the second day. Lilia was very knowledgeable, patient and fun. She is an excellent guide to have for both of these destinations and without a doubt for any Tour she provides. When (and not if) we return to St Petersburg we will definitely have Lilia show us much more of this great city.
FYI a whole day for Peterhof and another full day for Tsarsko Selo is needed. To be able to see these palaces properly you do need to spend the whole day. We took the hydrofoil to Peterhof which is the best and easiest way to get to and from the palace.
We were docked at the "English Embankment" on Azamara Journey. One interesting point is right beside the our ship is where the Aurora fired the shot to start the Revolution.
Finally we recommend Lilia very highly and if you want a great Tour then choose her.
